About cookies
1. What is a cookie?
The term "cookie" (used in the plural form "cookies") refers to technologies based on the principle of storing and accessing information about the device (e.g. desktop PC, laptop, tablet, mobile phone) used by a visitor to a website. Cookies are text files that contain small amounts of information consisting of letters and numbers, which will be stored on the user's device. Cookies are installed by request issued by a web server to a browser (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Safari) and are completely "passive" (does not contain software, viruses or spyware and cannot access information on the user's hard drive). Cookies contain information that connects a user of the website and a web server. If a user accesses that website again, the web server will read the previously stored information and recognize that user on the next visit. Cookies are mainly used to help the user navigate a site efficiently, to allow the user to perform certain operations (e.g., account authentication), and to allow the site to remember the user's actions or preferences over time.
2. Types of cookies
There are several types of cookies, depending on various classification criteria, namely: Depending on the storage duration : (i) session cookies (which expire immediately after closing the visited web page) or (ii) persistent cookies (which have a longer lifespan, they are retained and the stored information is reused each time the user returns to that site); Depending on their role : (i) strictly necessary cookies, (ii) functional cookies, (iii) performance and analysis cookies and (iv) targeting and advertising cookies; Depending on their source : (i) first party cookies (placed by the site accessed by the user) and (ii) third party cookies (placed by a third party other than the site accessed by the user).

Targeting and advertising cookies These cookies can provide the possibility of monitoring the online activities of visitors and to create profiles that can then be used for marketing purposes. For example, based on such cookies, the products and services agreed by a user can be identified, this information can subsequently be used to send relevant advertising messages to that user. They also have functions such as preventing the continuous repetition of the same advertisement, ensuring the correct display of advertisements and selecting advertisements according to the interests of the user.
